Personal Life
(Education, Family, Living Country, Early Life and Interests)
I grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. These mountains have a blue, smoky hue caused from the release of Isoprene from trees, mostly the Oak Tree. The Blue Ridge Mountains are among the oldest in the world (around 400 million years) and were at one time taller than the Rocky Mountains and as tall as the Alps. Erosion over millions of years have made the Blue Ridge and Brushy mountains much smaller. The Blue Ridge are part of the larger Appalachian Mountain chain. The Blue Ridge extends from Georgia into Pennsylvania.
I lived in a small farming community and spent a lot of time outside working and playing. I picked up hay and primed tobacco to make money from the time I was very young until I went into the military after graduation from High School. My first wage was 75 cents an hour for priming tobacco when I was about 12 years old. When I got my driver’s license, I was able to buy my car outright with my savings.
I was an avid member of the Boy Scouts of America. I am an Eagle Scout and achieved the Scout Lifeguard ranking as well as membership in the Order of the Arrow. Because of the Boy Scouts (BSA), I was provided with the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the woods camping, hiking and enjoying nature. I learned to hunt, track, and fish while becoming more than proficient in Archery, Firearms, Axe and Knife, and Survival techniques. All which still interest me to this day. My Scoutmaster was a true man of God and an example to all of us.
I excelled in high school making excellent grades and being recognized as one of the top 12 seniors upon graduation. I was on the wrestling and basketball teams at school and played baseball and football with the other kids in my community. However, my primary and most loved activity from about 16 years old until I destroyed my knee in military service in Alaska, was the Martial Arts. I attained high ranks in 2 different styles and actually competed in the All Alaska Martial Arts tournament.
I served 4 years in the United States Air Force. I was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for 2 years and in Sumter, South Carolina for 2 years. I received the marksmanship award after qualifying expert on two separate occasions. I attained the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge. I was selected Airman of the Month for Shaw Air Force Base.
After the Air Force, I went back to school and gained an Associate Degree in Information Technology. I then worked for the next 40 years or so honing those skills in Banking and Retail environments. When I retired, my specialties were Data Architecture, Information Architecture, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Modeling using the ERwin Data Modeler tool, Big Data Architecture.
My faith vacillated while I was in the Air Force. There were times it was strong and yet, I’m ashamed to say, there were times of complete failure. For example, the use of profanity became such a part of my communication that when I began a return to God that, after any public speaking I did, I would often have to ask my wife if I had said any curse words. Thank God for His Grace and Forgiveness.
I received a definite call to Teach (not to be a Pastor which is a different gift of the Holy Spirit) the Word of God after leaving the military and while I was attending my local church. This was sometime circa 1978. I have taught God’s Word ever since. Several years (about 10) before I retired, I attended a class one night at a local Bible College and Seminary. After that, I began to feel a deep need to study God’s word in a more profound way. So I started taking about 1 class a semester at the college. After several years of doing this, I was able to get a Bachelor of Theology degree. In the years I had spent there, the Dean of the college and other staff had come to know me well. Once I received my Bachelor’s degree, the Dean asked me to get my Master’s degree and teach some courses at the college. I continued substitute teaching and taking classes until I had my Master’s degree in Theology. Now I teach occasionally on the staff of the Bible College and Seminary in Winston-Salem.
In my working years, I had the opportunity to teach and speak regularly. I started a Bible Study class at work, outside of work hours, that was very well attended and lasted several years. I also led several seminars on Christian subjects, again outside of work hours, at work as well. I spoke at several churches in the 1980’s exposing the evils of the New Age Movement to believers. I served as an interim speaker at 2 different churches, conducting their Wednesday night services for over a year in both cases. The services were a verse-by-verse teaching through the book of Revelation. They were very well attended and ended exactly when the new Pastor was hired. I saw the hand of God in it.
I became interested in what the Bible had to say about UFO’s, Aliens, Ghosts and Cryptids like Bigfoot, Pigman, Mothman, Werewolves, etc. due to answering questions asked by people participating in ministries I was involved in. The rural areas of North Carolina, especially the mountains and foothills, are full of lore and many people I ministered to had real questions. My studies in Spiritual Warfare had led me to becoming familiar with Occult and New Age practices and what the Bible had to say about them. My interest from an early age, due to my experience in seeing a UFO, led me to research what the Bible had to say about that subject as well. As my knowledge base increased over the years, my researching became more intense and I began to see an overlap in all these subjects.
I was not an active investigator. I was just interested. Then I became aware of the ministries of Dr. Tom Horn of Skywatch TV, Steve Quayle of True Legends, and a few others. I began to listen to folk like; Guy Malone (Founder of Alien Resistance.org), Joe Jordan (President and co-founder of CE4 Research Group), Derek and Sharon Gilbert. Gary Stearman of Prophesy Watchers, Dr. Chuck Missler of Koinonia House, Dr Michael Heiser, L.A. Marzulli, Russ Dizdar, and Gary Wayne with his Genesis 6 Conspiracy ministry. Their work was of great interest to me. I began to attend various physical conferences where these folk would do presentations. I watched their YouTube videos regularly, and bought their material in support of their ministries. I still do these things. I also do research on my own. I’ve travelled to Egypt, to Israel, to Jordan, and to New Mexico for research purposes.
I’ve spoken at regional Bigfoot/Paranormal conventions in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. I do all these things at my own expense because I believe we are on the cusp of something big. Jesus said, in Matthew 24:24, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
I have been involved in short term missionary work in the US in my home state of North Carolina and in neighboring states over many years. These efforts have involved building projects, disaster relief, and Vacation Bible School programs. The focus of both the adult and children ministries that I involve myself in always have the element of Soul-Winning as their basis. I have served in short term missionary work abroad for several years. Specifically, in an annual mission trip to Brazil that I have been privileged to take part in for the last several years.
My purpose in writing this book, in a nutshell, is to ensure people that there is precedent for what we are seeing happening now in the Holy Scriptures and that our faith in God should remain unshaken as we uncover the lies and deception of the enemy of our souls. In truth, “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
